Lower back pain
Lower back pain treatment can vary from person to person, this is due to a lot of back pain arising because of a number of reasons rather than a single cause. Back pain can vary from discomfort affecting your training or be extremely debilitating to daily life. The key to back injury recovery is to help reduce the pain or sensitivity of the surrounding tissue to movement and then progress the rehabilitation toward an individual's end goal and needs.
Lower back pain
Low back pain can be defined as pain, muscle tension, or stiffness localised below the rib cage and above the inferior gluteal folds, with or without leg pain. Back pain can be classed as acute, sub acute or chronic and this along with the type of symptoms, levels of pain and disability help determine prognosis and therefore direction of treatment. Most episodes of acute low back pain have good recovery however recurrences within a year can be common. A combination of progressive rehab and education around back pain can go a long way toward back injury recovery and help you on the way to building a strong robust back for the future.
Goals of physical therapy for Lower back pain
Confidence in your back and it being robust enough to deal with day to day activity or training loads, is a key feature of rehabilitation or preventative strategies. Understanding your back and what it can do is not just important for pain and injury recovery but also provides you with the tools to self manage flare ups of pain and stiffness in the future to ensure the pain doesn't stop you in your tracks and are empowered to control the pain, not have the pain control you.
